I pursue excellence with unrelenting academic fervor. My track record since entering university has been near-perfect. Accolades, awards, scholarships and memberships with professional organizations abound in my academic career. It is this driven need for excellence that I bring to the field of Orthodontics. Throughout my academic career, I have maintained over a decade of conceptual continuity that is pertinent and relevant to my goals of orthodontic practice and research.
I especially appreciate how Orthodontics is a rapidly developing field and the way in which new technologies have helped us to make great advances in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Over the last eight years, I have watched these developments with keen interest. I find these changing times exciting, and I am keenly looking forwad to a full immersion experience in the intellectual and technical challenges of clinical orthodontics, particularly research. I am particularly fascinated with the way in which we are not able to substantially alter the human face through growth alteration or orthognathic surgery areas in which I would like to be engaged in research in the future.
Compassionate care, kindness and a gentle hand have not changed, and I constantly strive to further cultivate all three. I look forward, with great eagerness to beginning my career in the singularly most rewarding and enjoyable profession I can imagine. I choose Orthodontists because I enjoy improving the patients' look, raising their confidence levels, helping them to feel more comfortable with who they are. There is nothing I enjoy as much as correcting malocclusions becaue of the way that it vastly improves a patient's quality of life. While volunteering in the more socio-economically depressed communities in my homeland of Uzbekistan, I saw firsthand the material benefit of the care, especially preventative care which our teams were able to provide.
In my volunteer work, I have reached out to socio-economically depressed communities and the underprivileged, educating children concerning the benefits and rewards of good oral hygiene. Any doctor knows that prevention is better than cure, and what better way than starting with children. With my unique background, having been born and raised in Uzbekistan, I have traveled to some of the most remote area in my homeland and provided dental services in a local hospital. Upon graduating with the MDS Degree, I intend to share the experiences and knowledge I will have gained by going on missions to developing countries. I have seen first-hand the difficulties that poor countries have in establishing modern oral health care systems.
To keep my education well-practiced, I have tutored math, physics, and chemistry; and ballet, just for fun. I've found there's no better way to educate oneself than to teach. By completing your distinguished program, I hope to be so much more than just a student, but an important asset to society. This is my life and chosen field. My upbringing, the pride I have for my family, have all taught me to never squander the talents that God has given us. Truly, I am humbled by the thought that my talents will soon benefit those who need me most and that through my our research we will continue to bring smiles to those who suffer from a lack of access to oral health care resources.
